Your first team skate/parent meeting will be Oct 17-18th weekend!

Regular practice rotation starts Oct 19th week!!

2. Team selections

2.1       Team Selection Procedure (as of Sept 2024)

NOTE: It is MMHA’s goal to create equal teams that are competitively balanced. Rosters

will not be finalized until MMHA has reviewed and approved players selected for each team. MMHA reserves the right to manipulate player placement prior to team announcements.

1.      Players will attend their divisions pre-season group skate. 

2.      This will not be a tryout or a formal evaluation but a viewing and observation of players only.

3.      Head Coaches will be selected prior to this skate but not assigned a team.

4.      Assistant Coaches, Trainers and Managers will not be selected or involved in this process.

5.      The skate will allow all Head Coaches to become familiar with the players attitudes, effort, and skill levels to ensure teams can be formed as equally as possible.

6.      Head Coaches, the MMHA Division Coordinator and possibly some MMHA Board members will meet immediately following this pre-season skate to form the teams.

7.      MMHA Board will approve/amend the presented team rosters at their next Board meeting.

8.      Once the MMHA Board approves the team rosters, Head Coaches may then make contact with Assistant Coaches, Trainer, Manager and send out introductory emails to players parents.

 *         Teams will be created as equally as possible.

**       Whenever possible it is preferred to have an equal amount of second year players on each team, however, skill parity is more important than age.

***     MMHA registered female players may be placed onto one team or divided on separate teams depending on MMHA registration numbers.  Registered Aces

players will follow the MMHA AP Policy.

****    Please be aware that there are a number of factors that MMHA must take into consideration while forming teams, and although they may not be perfect, we are

all striving to do our best so that all players can develop and have fun!

At anytime during the player selection process with the Head Coaches the present Board Members reserve the right to make player selection adjustments.  No decisions are final until roster is approved by the Board. 

*****  As always, MMHA strives to follow Hockey Canada’s recommended process “to form teams to maintain balanced and competitive play where the athletes can

develop and participate equitably and have fun playing hockey during the

season”.  To better facilitate the team creation process, all players will skate prior to teams being formed as per the below:

It is extremely important to note that these skates are not a tryout or a formal evaluation but an opportunity for all Head Coaches to become familiar with the players attitudes, effort, and skill levels to ensure teams can be formed as equally as possible.

Please note:  YOU MUST SIGN IN at the Public Skaters Lounge (under the seating by room 6) 

Please arrive 45 minutes prior to your ice session and a numbered jersey will be provided for this one session.

Teams will then be formed no later than October 15th to adhere with Hockey Sask’s mandated team registration date.
